About Eastern Academy of Mixed Martial Arts
Eastern Academy of Mixed Martial Arts (EAMMA) in Virginia Beach was founded on 1 March 1999 and teaches an unusually wide curriculum: Gracie/Brazilian jiu-jitsu in gi and no-gi, submission grappling, Muay Thai, Combat Submission Wrestling and MMA, Jeet Kune Do and Lee Jun Fan gung fu, Filipino martial arts, Progressive Fighting Systems and Savate kickboxing, plus a Little Dragons youth programme for ages 6 and up. Founder Wahsei Miran holds full instructorships in Filipino martial arts, Jeet Kune Do, Maphilindo Silat and Madjapahit martial arts from Guro Dan Inosanto, in Muay Thai from Grand Master Chai Sirisute, in Combat Submission Wrestling from Erik Paulson and in Progressive Fighting Systems from Paul Vunak, along with a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt from Relson Gracie. Muay Thai progression is marked with armbands rather than belts.
