About Renzo Gracie Nashville Jiu Jitsu
Renzo Gracie Nashville was founded by Professor Shawn Williams, a 6th-degree black belt under Renzo Gracie and the fifth black belt promoted from the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York (2002), inventor of the Williams Guard, a coach for Team GSP on The Ultimate Fighter season 12 and a long-time ADCC and IBJJF commentator. The academy teaches gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through the Williams Training Curriculum built on Renzo Gracie's foundations, with separate fundamentals and advanced tracks, plus Muay Thai kickboxing under 21-year pro PJ McMahon and kids jiu-jitsu and kickboxing from age four. More than 100 class times a week run across its two academies, and a pro training team is available by coach invitation; advanced jiu-jitsu classes require a 3-stripe white belt or higher. This record covers the Brentwood academy at 5105 Maryland Way, the original location, with one large mat space, showers and locker rooms, running a full schedule of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai kickboxing near I-65.
