About Straight Blast Gym of Bend
Straight Blast Gym of Bend opened its 6,000 square foot facility at 550 NW Franklin Ave in Bend, Oregon in 2022 as part of the international SBG organisation founded in Portland by Matt Thornton, which is now in its thirtieth year with academies on every continent. It teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai kickboxing, boxing, wrestling, MMA, judo, fitness, yoga and a women's-only grappling programme, and runs the Growing Gorillas children's curriculum in five age bands from Micro Monkeys (3-5) through Spider Monkeys (5-7), Chimpanzees (7-10), Juniors (10-12) and Teens (12+). Head coach Brian is an SBG black belt under Matt Thornton, a free trial class is offered for every programme, and a homeschool leadership academy for ages 8-12 started in September 2026.
