About Pirata Jiu Jitsu
Pirata Jiu Jitsu is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu school in Independence, Missouri — where it started in 2006 — serving the Kansas City metro with fundamentals and all-levels classes plus a kids' programme. Owner and head instructor Devin "Pirate" Pirata is a 1st-degree black belt under Jared Weiner and Kyle Watson representing the Tac Team Association, with over 17 years of training and teaching and a record that includes an IBJJF Dallas Open no-gi title and multiple superfight wins. Co-head and fundamentals instructor Brooke Honeycutt Littlewood is a black belt and two-time IBJJF No-Gi World champion who also leads the school's women, and blue belt Bianca Chasten rounds out the team. Every class is taught by a black belt, loaner gis are available, and newcomers can train a week for free.
