About Ground Control Hunt Valley
Ground Control Hunt Valley is a 5,520 sq ft mixed martial arts academy in Sparks Glencoe, Maryland, serving Cockeysville, Timonium, Towson, Parkton and White Hall, and part of the long-running Ground Control network founded by John Rallo. It runs gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from a 5 am early class through midday and evening sessions, adult Muay Thai and boxing, a women's self-defense grappling class, kids BJJ banded 5-7, 8-11 and 12-15 plus kids striking, Sunday yoga, and open mats six days a week including a Sunday community open mat. Head instructor and co-founder Dancy Debrosse is a black belt under Ricardo Almeida — the first American black belt under Renzo Gracie — and received his first degree from John Rallo; he is a serving law enforcement officer, as is youth program director Tim Johnson, who coaches the academy's IBJJF, PBJJF and NAGA competitors. The academy discounts memberships for first responders, medical professionals and teachers.
