About NOLA BJJ

New Orleans Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (NOLA BJJ) describes itself as the oldest and largest BJJ school in New Orleans, begun in the late 1990s as a garage grappling group and moved to its Magazine Street flagship — a converted fire station — by Professor Matthias Meister after Hurricane Katrina; the school's 'X' logo is taken from the search-and-rescue markings of that period. It now claims four metro-area locations, over 50 black belts and around 300 local students, teaching gi and no-gi BJJ, kids classes from age 4, judo and gi wrestling, women's BJJ, Muay Thai-based kickboxing, and a private 24/7 gym with personal trainers.
