About Lexington Jiu-Jitsu & Fitness

Lexington Jiu-Jitsu & Fitness is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu-only academy at 931 National Avenue in Lexington, affiliated with Team Shawn Hammonds of Nashville and training on a gymnastics spring floor under the sparring mats. It runs a 16-week fundamentals cycle, intermediate/advanced classes, situational sparring, competition training, a women's-only class led by black belt Jessie McDonald, open mats, and a yoga session ("Bulletproof for BJJ") open free to the wider jiu-jitsu community. Gi and no-gi alternate by day — gi on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, no-gi on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Head coach Michael Seals is a 3rd-degree black belt with a Master of Science in Athletic Training and CSCS certification, leading a bench of eight further black belts. The academy also runs a Community Roll open to practitioners from other schools, currently on hiatus.
