About Underdog Mixed Martial Arts

Underdog Mixed Martial Arts is a 6,300-square-foot West Hartford gym with three separate training areas for striking, grappling and strength and conditioning. Its Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programme is an official affiliate of the Soulfighters team under Rafael "Formiga" Barbosa, teaching gi with belt ranking alongside no-gi submission grappling, and the timetable also covers wrestling, Muay Thai and Jeet Kune Do-rooted striking, MMA, women's-only gi BJJ, an all-levels self-defence class, fitness classes and an invite-only fight team. Youth training runs in three tiers — Puppy (6-9), Pitbull (9-12) and Teen (13-16) — and the gym has trained fighters who have competed in the UFC, Bellator and CES MMA as well as military, law-enforcement and first-responder students.
