About Knockout Cancer Boxing Club
Knockout Cancer Boxing Club is a Fort Collins boxing gym built on the Swartz family tradition that runs back to Choice City Boxing, founded by Roger Swartz. It runs group boxing classes, a youth programme, private coaching and a competitive team, all taught fundamentals-first — stance, footwork, punch mechanics, defence and conditioning drawn from real boxing drills rather than cardio-boxing workouts. Head coach Shane "The Hurricane" Swartz is a Silver Level USA Boxing certified coach who began boxing at five under his father, won six national titles, was the 1991 Junior National and 1994 United States champion, was ranked the world's number one amateur, took silver at the Goodwill Games in St Petersburg, fought over 300 amateur bouts and 24 professional fights, retired ranked 14th in the world and entered the Colorado Golden Gloves Hall of Fame in 2023. The club took its present form and mission after Swartz's successful battle with throat cancer in 2019, and every coach on staff has been personally trained by him.
