About APSK Martial Arts Academy
APSK Martial Arts Academy is a Mesa, Arizona dojo whose Arizona schools have run since 1994, when Jerold Shaw Jr. opened the first Arizona Shaolin Kenpo Academy; it took the APSK name in 2006 when Shaw and Carlos Daniel Tamayo Sr. formed the APSK Martial Arts Federation. The curriculum is Kenpo karate and Shaolin kung fu at its core, with Arnis stick and knife work, a combined MMA/kickboxing/grappling/jiu-jitsu specialty class, point and self-defence sparring, tumbling, a tournament team and private lessons, for children, teens and adults. The school's stated method blends the four "ways of fighting" -- kicking, striking, felling and grappling -- drawn from Kenpo, kung fu and Chin Na.
