Victor Hugo won three matches to claim his second Grand Prix title and the $50,000 winner's check.

Registration Deadlines
Major championships follow the same pattern:

- IBJJF can close registration early if an event reaches capacity
Registration Fees
Fees vary by event and timing. Current examples from IBJJF event pages:
| Event | Price steps (USD) |
|---|---|
| 2027 International Opens (e.g. Atlanta Winter, January 23-24) | $143 until December 25, then $174 until January 15 |

Black Belt Qualification and Ranking Points
Adult black belts must accumulate ranking points to register for the biggest championships:
| Championship | Points Required |
|---|---|
| World Championship (gi) | 95 points (the 2026 edition required 80) |
| Pan, European and Brazilian National Championships (gi) | 40 points |
| World No-Gi Championship | 30 no-gi points |
| BJJ Pro events | 10 points |
Former black belt World Champions (gi or no-gi) are exempt from point requirements, as are black belts who won an adult brown belt division at the previous season's World Championship. Points from the current season and the previous two count, weighted x3 for 2026-27, x2 for 2025-26 and x1 for 2024-25. Our IBJJF ranking points guide explains how each placement is scored.
The Grand Slam is the ultimate competitive achievement: winning gold at all four Grand Slam events (Europeans, Pans, the Brasileiro and Worlds) within one Grand Slam season, which IBJJF counts on a rolling basis using the most recent edition of each event. In 2026, Tainan Dalpra became the first man to earn two Grand Slam titles. Because the sequence runs January, March, late April and late May, a Grand Slam run demands peak form across five months of back-to-back major events.
