Neutral Ground Academy's Eastside gym at 932 E Pleasant St in Milwaukee, open since 2005 and run on an explicitly 'safety first', laid-back approach that the academy builds around welcoming beginners. The Eastside timetable is adult-led: beginner and mixed-level BJJ in gi and no-gi, an invite-only intermediate class, grappling from standing, a Saturday systems study, kickboxing, yoga, a women's-only class on alternate Fridays, and a free intro-to-BJJ slot by appointment. It also runs a dedicated Military Veterans' BJJ class twice a week. Owner and head instructor Jon Friedland leads a roster of more than twenty coaches shared with the academy's Bay View location.
