About Foundations Jiu Jitsu

Foundations Jiu Jitsu is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy at 600 Williamson Street, Suite Q in Madison, Wisconsin, started in 2015 as a volunteer-run programme at the Neighborhood House Community Center with the aim of making jiu-jitsu accessible to anyone. It represents Chris and Melissa Haueter's Combat Base Jiu Jitsu and keeps its terms deliberately plain: no contracts, no required academy or affiliation uniform, no testing or promotion fees, and promotion based on results on the mat. Friday and Sunday fundamentals classes are the recommended entry point, there is a Sunday open mat, and the youth and family programme lets parents train alongside their children, with 6- and 7-year-olds required to have a parent on the mat. Gi loaners are available, there is a shower on site, and the trial policy is open-ended rather than capped at a set number of classes.
