About Charlottesville Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Charlottesville Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been run since 2007 by owner and chief instructor Gordon Emery, a 3rd degree BJJ black belt training consistently since 2004 who was hooked after a Royce Gracie seminar in Charlottesville. The school was voted best martial arts school in Charlottesville from 2015 to 2019, runs a partnership program with the Albemarle County Police Department, and Emery is Gracie Survival Tactics certified, a Krav Maga Global instructor graduate and a subject matter expert in clinch and ground control for law enforcement. Programs cover adult BJJ, a five-week Basics Course, juniors and kids classes, a women's group, boxing and multiple open mats a week; the whole school switches to no-gi from 1 June to 31 August.
