About Absolute MMA
Absolute MMA opened in West Valley City in late 2001 and moved to its current West Jordan home in 2004, running 40+ classes a week in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (gi fundamentals, mixed-level gi and no-gi), Muay Thai, judo, wrestling, boxing, MMA and fitness and conditioning, with youth classes for ages 5-7, 8-12 and 13-17 and competitive teams in BJJ, submission wrestling, judo, kettlebell lifting and MMA. Owner and head coach Professor Rob Handley is a 5th-degree BJJ black belt and the most senior American-born student of Grandmaster Flavio Behring, plus a 3rd-degree judo black belt, senior Muay Thai instructor under Sakasem Kanthawong, taekwondo black belt and MACP Level 3 combatives instructor; he spent nearly a decade contracted by the US Department of Defense teaching combatives to Special Forces personnel and has coached UFC veterans including Josh Burkman, Court McGee and the late Evan Tanner.
