About Marmalade Jiu Jitsu
Marmalade Jiu Jitsu at 401 North 300 West in the Marmalade district of Salt Lake City was founded by a group who had trained together for nearly a decade and wanted an inclusive gym built on community and authenticity. The week alternates between gi and no-gi and runs adult fundamentals classes morning and midday, adult beginners, positional sparring, kids classes, a Saturday adult competition class and an open mat after almost every session, plus a free women's self-defense class on Mondays. Instructor and owner Shannon earned her black belt from Unified Jiu-Jitsu in 2025, has won a World Masters championship at every belt rank and took gold at No-Gi Master Worlds in her first year as a black belt; she teaches alongside Tanner, kids coach Matthew and women's coach Jade.
