Combat City Catch Wrestling in San Antonio, TX teaches collegiate folkstyle wrestling and catch wrestling - wrestling with submissions - alongside hybrid striking, built for wrestlers and mixed martial artists wanting to add submissions to their game. It is deliberately rank-free: "an ego-free environment without ranks on the mats". The timetable runs on a wrestling calendar, with a competitive season from November to March (performance days, youth wrestling, fundamentals drilling, a Friday wrestling open mat and a Saturday dirty boxing / Muay Thai block), a post-season April to July and a pre-season camp format August to November. Head coach Val "The Crippler" Childs brings 39 years of Wisconsin catch wrestling, amateur wrestling, boxing and Muay Thai, is recognised by the World Submission Wrestling Federation, and pioneered MMA in Wisconsin in the early 2000s; Johnella Childs is director of operations.
