About GFTEAM APEX Jiu Jitsu
GFTEAM APEX Jiu Jitsu opened in July 2026 at 1003 Meb Court, Suite 400 in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, bringing the GFTEAM (Grappling Fight Team) curriculum built in Rio de Janeiro under Master Julio Cesar to a family-focused academy. It runs kids classes, parent-and-child and family classes, an anti-bullying programme, adult classes split into all-levels, beginners and advanced, gi and no-gi, competition classes, live-rolls sessions for students with three stripes and up, and a Saturday all-levels open mat; Sunday is a rest day. Head instructor and co-owner Professor Nando Carvalho is a Brazilian black belt, two-time IBJJF world medallist and Pan American medallist with over ten years of coaching, and serves in the Tennessee Army National Guard.
