About Delaware Jiu Jitsu
Delaware Jiu Jitsu is a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu academy in Chadds Ford and an affiliate of Regis Lebre Jiu-Jitsu / Gracie Competition Team, teaching gi and no-gi with an emphasis on both real-world self-defence and sport jiu-jitsu. The timetable covers a fundamentals class, BJJ all-levels sessions, kids jiu-jitsu, drilling, open mats, a gi/no-gi class and an Israeli martial arts session. Head instructor Jay Goldberg is a Gracie Humaitá third-degree black belt under Regis Lebre — himself a 5th-degree black belt under Royler Gracie — who has trained BJJ since 1998, is also a Wing Chun sifu, and is licensed by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission as a ringside physician. The academy hosts Master Royler Gracie for regular seminars and has also brought in Dave Kama, Demian Maia, Josh Barnett and Matt Hamill; its competition team's titles include Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro Trials, Grapplers Quest gi and no-gi, NAGA super heavyweight and Pan American No-Gi. Training is on Zebra mats in an air-conditioned space with a UV air-cleaning system, and there are no contracts.
