About Leading Edge Martial Arts
Leading Edge Martial Arts (LEMA) in Allentown, Pennsylvania teaches what it calls non-competition-based mixed martial arts — a hybrid curriculum that draws on stand-up arts such as karate and kickboxing and grappling arts such as judo and jiu-jitsu, aimed at practical everyday self-defense rather than competition. Adults train for self-defense, fitness and stress relief; the children's programme deliberately removes competitive pressure and focuses on self-confidence, self-discipline and a non-quitting spirit; and there is a Kinder Kicks parent-and-child programme and a partner-free LEMA FIT conditioning class. The school runs free women's self-defense workshops and says it has been voted the Lehigh Valley's best martial arts school 18 years running.
