About Bismarck Self Defense Academy
Bismarck Self Defense Academy, trading as Ice Dragon Academy, was founded by Coach Josh and opened in 2010 as Bismarck's first Brazilian jiu-jitsu gym and only the second in North Dakota. Josh came to grappling from MMA after finishing college out of shape, kept training through a local judo club when his gym dropped its jiu-jitsu programme, and opened his own after a chance meeting with a travelling black belt who was training the local police department. The academy now teaches Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai to adults and children in a family-friendly setting.
