About American School of Karate & Judo

The American School of Karate & Judo (ASKJ) is a traditional martial arts school whose national headquarters is at 3203 N 204th Street in Elkhorn, Nebraska, now owned by Valerie and Jon Trizila. Founded by Grandmaster John Byrne and his twin brother Grandmaster Edward Byrne, it teaches the 5 Circle System, their own integration of taekwondo, karate, judo and jiu-jitsu, with classes grouped by age and rank. Its Brazilian jiu-jitsu program is taught separately by Professor Jon Trizila, a black belt under Luiz Palhares who is also a black belt in judo and karate and a former Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Trainer, and runs adult and youth classes plus four weekly open rolls. ASKJ also runs classes at three satellite sites around Omaha.
