About Onyx Grappling
Onyx Grappling in St Peters, MO is a family-run Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy. Owner and head instructor Professor Dennis Knaust, a native of St Charles County, took up BJJ after enrolling three of his children and is a 2017 IBJJF World Masters gold medallist and a multiple-time AGF gi and no-gi gold medallist. His family teaches alongside him: program director Emma Knaust, who started Muay Thai in 2009 and jiu-jitsu in 2012, and Professor Kaden Knaust, who began at eight in 2012 after being bullied, came all the way through the kids belt system into the adult one, and won IBJJF Kids Pan Ams gold in 2015 and IBJJF Nationals gold in 2018. The wider staff includes Gracie Barra ICP certified instructor Eric Schuettenburg, Professor Christopher Pierce with an MMA, Muay Thai, boxing and judo background, blue belt competitor Kris Hetlage and Coach Patrick Shane.
