Aplomb Martial Arts Brookside is a dojo at 209 E Gregory Blvd in Kansas City, Missouri, between the Country Club Plaza and Waldo, one of six in a Kansas City Kempo franchise created in 2020 by Glen and Janell Bartlett. It teaches 'Aplomb Kempo', the franchise's own system drawing on karate, Kempo, Shaolin kung fu, western boxing, jiu-jitsu and Chin Na grappling and tai chi, in adult, young adult and kids tracks, pairing weekly group classes with a personal one-to-one lesson. Sensei Alex Bartlett is the chief instructor; the dojo runs afternoons and evenings Monday to Friday plus Saturday mornings.
