About World of Self Defense - Combat Jujitsu
World of Self-Defense / Combat Ju-Jitsu at 5406 43rd Ave S in South Minneapolis is one of the oldest martial arts schools in Minnesota. It was founded by James Bob Easom, who taught karate, judo and ju-jitsu at the Fort Snelling Naval Air Station before opening to civilians, and had a permanent Minnehaha Ave location by 1968; when Easom was transferred in 1970 his top black belt Ron Peterson took over, and it is now run by Ron's son Steve Peterson, head instructor for more than thirty years. The school was affiliated with the Armed Forces Judo Association, the AJJF and the Kodenkan Karate Association until the mid-1970s, when it formed its own Kosen Ju-Jitsu association stressing realistic self-defense and ground grappling. Adult classes run five days a week with youth classes on Saturday afternoons, and the school uses no contracts or billing companies.
