About Minneapolis Boxing Club

Minneapolis Boxing Club was founded in the winter of 2018 by husband-and-wife team Joe and Heidi Amouta, who met at Uppercut Boxing Gym in 2013 and agreed on their first date to open a gym of their own. It offers private and group boxing plus strength and conditioning, with group fitness classes scalable to all levels and a path for anyone wanting to step into the ring. Joe boxed as an amateur and professional in California and Texas, winning the 2009 California district and regional championships, trained with Freddie Roach at Wild Card Gym and took part in Manny Pacquiao's camp for the Ricky Hatton fight; Heidi started boxing at 22, made the 2014 National Women's Boxing Team, competed for a place at the 2015 Olympic Trials and is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher. The gym sits in the northeast corner of the 2905 Garfield Building alongside CrossFit Kingfield, Kingfield Barbell, 57Fit and Krav Maga Minneapolis, and is equipped with a competition ring, heavy, water, double-end, uppercut and speed bags, treadmills, Airdyne bikes, rowers and a squat rack.
