About New State Fitness / NOLABJJ Metairie
New State Fitness in Metairie is the home of NOLABJJ, offering gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing and sambo for adults and children — Little Kids BJJ (4-6), Big Kids BJJ (7+), kids kickboxing (6+), a Sunday white belt workshop, a Thursday Girls Club for teens, tweens and adults, 6 am Breakfast Club sessions, an Intro to MMA class and three weekly open mats. It was established by Charles "Charlie" Haymon, a BJJ black belt under Matthias Meister, judo brown belt under Nobuo Hayashi and associate sambo coach under Reilly Bodycomb, whose competition record spans IBJJF gold at black belt, a Freestyle Judo national title, a NAGA world title and a Sambo World Championship appearance; he coaches alongside local experts including Myron Gaudet and Collin Murray. Membership is month-to-month with no long-term contracts and the first class is free.
