About BJJ Lifestyle Academy
BJJ Lifestyle Academy in O'Fallon, Illinois teaches gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to adults and children under head coach 'Brazilian' Mike Rethmeyer, a 4th-degree black belt under Leo Peçanha and a 20-time IBJJF medalist. The academy began in O'Fallon at the Katy Cavins Community Center in 2006, opened its first full school in Belleville in 2009, added a South County St. Louis location in 2016, and moved the Belleville dojo back to O'Fallon in 2025. Adult classes run from beginner fundamentals to a national competition pathway; the children's programme normally starts at age 7 and emphasises safety, self-defense, conditioning and discipline. The school is sponsored by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare.
