About Team Papakolea Jiu-Jitsu Academy

Relson Gracie Team Papakōlea Jiu-Jitsu Academy was founded in January 2005 by Professor Kaleo Auwae, a 6th-degree black belt under Grandmaster Relson Gracie who was born and raised in Papakōlea and began training under Relson in 1994. The academy teaches gi and no-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu, self-defence and a kids programme, and preserves the traditional Relson Gracie emphasis on fundamentals and self-defence. It now runs two Honolulu locations — the Papakōlea Community Development Center and a Kakaʻako site one block from SALT.
