About TeamAlves Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school
Team Alves Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was established in Sarasota in 2012 and is run as a family business — husband, wife and son all teach at the gym. It offers over 20 classes a week: gi and no-gi adult classes from 6 AM, kids' classes split at under-8 and 9-and-up, technical fundamentals, live drilling, and open mats most days, including a free female-only open mat on Saturdays. New students start with one-on-one instruction from Professor Alves before joining group class, and Sundays end with ice baths and a barbecue.
