Marcellini's Martial Arts Academy in Riverside, California teaches a self-defense-focused style of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai kickboxing and women's self-defense. It is run by Sam Marcellini, who holds five black belts, learned directly from Grandmaster Helio Gracie and his sons, was Royce Gracie's sparring partner and the second person ever awarded a black belt by Royce in California, and was the first certified instructor in the US under nine-time world Muay Thai champion Rob Kaman of the Mejiro Gym lineage. He has taught since 2000 with 35+ years in martial arts. Children's classes run from age three — Tiny Tigers (3-4), Little Tigers (5-7) and Beginner BJJ (7-13) — with teens and adults split into Fundamentals and Advanced, and the kids' curriculum includes structured character and 'School Safe / Street Safe' awareness blocks.
